Upon arriving, it was ...

Upon arriving, it was very confusing as to how to check in or park. Once the front desk staff came to the counter, everything was fine. They explained everything and assisted with the parking. They have more than one lot, so you may have to walk half of a block. The only thing is you will want to go directly to the front desk or you may park in the wrong place and unfortunately lots of the lots are not open 24 hrs or even 7 days a week. Check-in was easy to do. The gentleman helped with the doors and luggage. The rooms were extremely clean. I only gave it 4 stars because some areas needed repair, such as the bathroom door. It was crumbling on the bottom. Also, as you took a shower, the tub drained extremely slow, so you were standing in about 4 inches of water. There was a rainshower head for the shower with excellent pressure. The climate was controlled for you, so you couldn't adjust the temperature in your room. At night, the AC seemed to not be as cool, and we woke sweating. The room cleaning crew was AMAZING!!!!! When we came back from our outing, everything was neat, clean, and made up for us. All the towels were replenished. They even organized my daughter's stuffed animals and made her bed look so cute. For me, cleanliness and friendliness are everything, and this is where State Plaza Hotel would get 5 stars. Everyone was friendly and smiling. The only slight blemish is that I requested a cart when we left, and it never came. I had to lug all our things out with multiple trips to the elevator and car. All in all, that was the only bad thing. Beds, Pillows and Bedding: Very Comfortable and Clean. I usually have a very hard time falling asleep anywhere, but not here. Their pillows were probably the best I've had, and I travel a lot with baseball. Kitchenette: Full-size Refrigerator. Full bag of ice in the freezer. Four burner stove. All dishes and utensils for four. Toaster, Keurig Coffee and Coffee Maker, Microwave, Dish Soap, 2 chairs and table, cookwear. All of this was in its own little kitchen set off from the bedroom. It had doors so you could close it off. It was SUPER clean. Bedroom Area: Very spacious, desk with chair, lots of lighting, TV was on the smaller size, they should definitely upgrade these to Roku Smart TVs at a bigger size, basic cable and WiFi. Bathroom: Separate seating area with lots of light and mirrors to sit and do your makeup, etc. This could be closed from the bedroom area and the sink/tub/toilet area. The toilet area was a little tight. Lots of towels, however, their sizes were very small. The towels seemed like half a towel. Bath and Body Works Soaps and Shampoo. Very clean. Only downfall that cost the review a star was some of the door was breaking off, it definitely needed to be replaced and also the fact that when you showered, the water pooled in the bottom of the tub. They should really see why that happens. The water pressure was wonderful. Their cleaning staff does an amazing job. If they updated and fixed a few things, they would be 5 Star every day. The front desk was friendly and helpful. The only problem was when leaving, our cart for luggage was never sent to us. I had to make 5 trips, and I had to walk right through where the front desk was, and no one said anything to me. At one point, I was carrying a half case of water, and it broke. No one even helped me to grab the water. When I handed in my keys, I told the young lady about how that cart never came. She was very sorry as she saw me red-faced and sweating from carrying everything. The gentleman who usually helps with that just asked what I had said to her, and she told him. He never apologized. He was the same person I had tipped generously when he helped with our luggage when we arrived. It seemed he was more interested in helping people arrive more than helping them leave. I truly am only making a big deal about this because you can't get your own cart. You have to ask them for the cart. I did that more than once. Then, I was seen struggling with my belongings, and no one offered to help.

Great location and a ...

Great location and a nice bargain for DC. The hotel is nice, comfortable with clean large rooms. The area is quiet but we were able to walk to a few restaurants and also to the main tourist attractions (Lincoln Memorial, Mall, etc) and to the Kennedy Memorial Concert Hall (our destination). Few items to keep in mind… Parking at the hotel is pricy but we were able to park right on the street (on the weekend) right in front of the hotel. The hotel has two entrances and one is not accessible (stairs and no ramp to reach the elevators which are up a few steps from the lobby). Check in was easy and they explained that there is an accessible entrance from the garage, it we found out the other side entrance has no stairs in front. The two entrances did cause some confusion with one of our Uber drivers, but it was manageable. The room does not have a refrigerator, and one has to call the front desk for ice. Not a big deal, but something to know if you, like us, like cold water/beverages in your room. Lastly, the tv is terrible. They need to upgrade.
