The Lincoln Memorial: Honoring Freedom & the 16th President
An awe-inspiring structure, The Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. is one of America's most revered national monuments. Behind 36 Doric columns, representing the 36 unified states at the time of his death, a 19-foot Abraham Lincoln sits in quiet contemplation overlooking The National Mall. On each side of the statue are inscriptions of the Second Inaugural Addess and Gettysburg Address, an homage to Lincoln's oratory brilliance. Honoring the "Great Emancipator," The Lincoln Memorial celebrates the 16th President who led the United States through Civil War to abolish the scourge of slavery.Details
