Vietnam Veterans Memorial: The Wall for Healing

Located in the National Mall, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is a solemn place of reflection and remembrance for millions of Americans affected by the divisive conflict. Honoring men and women who served in the Vietnam War, the wall chronological lists more than 58,000 names of those who gave their lives during the Vietnam War.  The two-acre memorial invites friends, family, veterans and others to pay their respects day or night, and park rangers are present to assist visitors in finding their loved one's name on the 247-foot wall. More than a popular attraction, the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. offers a place of healing for many and is a truly moving experience for all who visit.

  • HOW MANY NAMES ARE ON THE MEMORIAL?

    There are currently 58,272 names listed on the Memorial. Approximately 1200 of these names are members of the U.S. Armed Forces still listed as missing in action. The memorialized names are listed in chronological order of casualty during the conflict, beginning in 1959 and continuing to 1975.

  • Where is the Wall located on the National Mall?

    The Wall is located between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial, adjacent to Constitution Gardens. It is situated along Constitution Avenue between 21st and 23rd Streets. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is within walking distance to all the captivating memorials and landmark monuments on the National Mall, and is just a few blocks from the hotel. You will want to bring your camera to capture it all.
