  • Does the museum offer public programs?

    Yes. The Museum offers  ongoing public tours, programs and initiatives to promote preservation and celebrate heritage. Thee Save Our African American Treasures project offers presentations and hands-on activities that provide preservation tips for items that document African American history. Also, the Smithsonian Folkways Recordings project invites listeners to explore the oral and musical traditions of African Americans over time.
  • How can I donate to the museum?

    Outright donations can be made directly to The Museum. Also, The Museum accepts pledge commitments. Pledge commitments are gifts paid over one to five years through annual or monthly installments. The Museum also accepts donated objects, such as historical documents, photographs, artifacts, audio recordings, books and visual arts, to share with the visiting public and future generations.
