  • How high up the monument does the tour take you?

    Although the monument is 555-feet tall, the observation deck is located at 500 feet. From this height, you can see all of Washington, D.C.'s monuments, government buildings, as well as surrounding national parks. To visit the museum, you simply walk down one flight of steps from the deck. The elevator ride up takes about 70 seconds, while the ride down takes approximately two minutes.
  • Are monument tours Handicap Accessible?

    Yes, monument tours are wheelchair accessible. The elevator to the observation deck is located on the lobby floor, which is accessible by sidewalks that lead into the monument. Although stairs are used to reach the monument's museum from the observation deck, visitors with limited mobility may use a designated elevator to the museum, then continue the rest of the tour with their group.
