Great Hotel in Good Location

We really rated our stay at The State Plaza. The hotel is no more than 10 mins walk from the White House and The Lincoln Memorial, and is the right side of the city for IAD airport (we got a taxi for ease - costs approx $60). In fact we walked pretty much everywhere, including from the hotel to the Capitol building (took approx 35 mins). If you don't fancy the walk, the hotel is also close to Foggy Bottom metro station (approx 10 mins). The hotel is actually set over two adjoining buildings - our room was in the second of the two. To get from one to the other you walk through the small indoor carpark of the hotel, which I admit is a bit of a weird set-up, but nothing you don't get used to, and really can't be considered a huge negative. There is also a restaurant for breakfast and dinner, which looked fine, though we didn't use it. Though we didn't spend much time in the hotel, we were suitably impressed. The hotel room we had was huge. It was really a suite, as it had a large living area with enormous (and very comfy) bed, a bathroom with bath and shower with a small area off it with dressing table/mirror, and a separate kitchen with a table, fridge, coffee machine and hob. The room was impeccably clean - we really hadn't been in a place that was cleaned to such a high standard, very impressed. There were some nice touches, including a fresh bottled water every evening and a free newspaper in the morning. Around the hotel there were a few bits and pieces - we walked to restaurants nearby on two separate occasions (District Commons and The Founding Farmers). There's also a 7/11 and Starbucks. All in all a great stay, and for the price we paid, an excellent choice

Very comfortable beds; great location!

I stayed 3 nights for my daughter's Conference. The hotel was located in the GWU neighborhood, which was quiet since it was summer. Location! Use one of their 2 entrances & you're within walking distance to most of the historic landmarks and monuments. Our room was very clean & spacious, with a full kitchen area & my daughter was pleased with the large vanity to do her makeup. Beds were sooo comfortable! I can't remember when was the last time I slept so well in a hotel! Room didn't have a view though, but everything else exceeded my expectations. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I went downstairs on one occasion around 4am to get some fresh air, & the doorman was kind enough to look out for me from the entrance, which made me feel safe. Food and service at their restaurant was great. Would definitely stay here again

Micros Restaurant & Bar

I always love staying at the State Plaza Hotel in DC. The service and staff are impeccable and I always feel like a VIP. I would really like to call out the restaurant which has excellent food. I ate there several times during my last two stays, and Raul made a point of recognizing me and made sure that I was always taken care of. He helped make the experience more than just eating and running. Thanks Raul! You're the best
