The Kennedy Center For the Performing Arts: Concerts, Theater and Dance

A living memorial to John F. Kennedy and one of America's premiere venues for the performing arts,  the Kennedy Center regularly welcomes the world's most-renown artists and performers to its stages. From music concerts and theatrical performances to world-famous symphonies and operas, the center offers audiences an array of performances across multiple artistic genres.  After passing exquisite sculptures and artwork gifted by foreign countries, settle into one of the center's great performance halls to enjoy a night of stand-up comedy or a captivating orchestral performances. As part of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts For Everyone Program, the center also offers more than 400 free performances annually featuring acclaimed American and international artists.

  • Are Tours Of The Center Available?

    Yes. Tours are available by walk-in, free of charge, and begin every 10 minutes during tour hours. Just visit the Tour Desk located on Level A of the Kennedy Center and wait for the next tour to depart. Accessibility tours, such as sign-interpreted tours and touch tours, are also available upon request. However, these tours require at least two weeks' advance notice.
  • What Types Of Performances Are Held At The Center?

    The Kennedy Center offers a variety of types of performances in multiple genres. Musical performances include popular music, jazz, folk, symphonies, orchestras, chamber music and world music. The center also regularly holds theatrical performances, including ballets, dance, musicals, plays, and operas, as well as stand-up comedy and lectures. In addition, concerts and events are available for young audiences.
