CRE8 Collective brings a little UK with the first ever DC screening of the documentary Soleseekers at the Songbyrd. Synopsis Trainers, Sneakers, Kicks or Creps, whatever title given, the sports shoe industry has broken the confines functional sportswear to an everyday essential fashion accessory. Trainers traverse racial, cultural and class barriers. Collectors, Inspectors and respecters of sneakers, affectionately known as "sneakerheads" can come from any background, race or religion, all with one common purpose, the appreciation of trainer culture. With the UK Sportswear Market worth billions, this documentary charts the highs and lows of the culture in the UK from the 1980s football 'casuals', the 2000s the UK Garage scene to the present Hypebeast era. Directed by Emil Socialize, Soleseekers highlights the importance of music, fashion and UK culture to the UK trainer collectors scene, blended with stories and recollections from avid collectors like Kish Kash (Brand Consultant), Robert ‘Brooksy' Brooks (vintage Adidas collector), Magdi (Former Owner of Slammin Kicks), Manny Norte (Capital Xtra DJ) and George Sullivan and many more.
