Special event series: Tai Chi instruction by Jorge Bañales Every Sunday in August at 8 AM (Beginner) & 9 AM (Intermediate) Enrollment is limited and registration required - visit event website to register today! Start your Sundays with the gentle movements of Tai Chi as you take in the beautiful view from the Robinson Landing pier. This special event series will take place August 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29. Classes are $25 per person and suited for beginner to intermediate level. Registration is required to attend and maximum capacity is 10 students per class. About the Class & Instructor Tai Chi is rooted in Chinese martial arts. The gentle movements help to release tension providing a sense of calm and restored energy. It can be approached as a practice for meditation and good health, as well as a way of harmonizing body and mind to foster and nourish awareness. Tai Chi movements can be practiced by people of all ages and as it involves balanced walking, it results in a relaxed aerobic exercise for major muscle groups and the circulatory system. The practice of Tai Chi also benefits the mind, and learning the form with keen awareness of body movements and balance leads to an increase in mental sharpness. This class series will be an introduction to Tai Chi. The 8 AM class is best suited for beginners and 9 AM class for intermediate level students. Instructor Jorge Bañales Jorge A. Bañales has been a Tai Chi and Qi Gong instructor for more than 20 years. He has led classes in Alexandria, VA at the Daily in Life Studio, the Alexandria Veterans Center and currently at Jones Point Park and the Washington Sailing Marine on Saturday mornings. Questions?
